About Barbados

Barbados is an island nation in the heart of the Caribbean Sea that truly has it all. From fine white powdery sand beaches, mesmerising turquoise waters to beautifully landscaped gardens, there is plenty to do and see here. The lonely east coast offers some great surfing conditions which attracts professional surfers from all over the world.

The capital, Bridgetown is a Unesco World Heritage listed site. This port town is dotted with colonial buildings of stunning beauty. One of the main attractions is the Nidhe Israel, a synagogue founded in 1654. Plenty of restaurants and cafes offer traditional and international cuisines.  Interestingly, some local traditions are reminiscent of their British colonial past, including afternoon high tea and cricket, the national sport.

One of the most popular attractions is Harrison’s Cave. Tourists can access the subterranean environment on a fun tramway journey. The caves have naturally formed stalactites and stalagmites in unusual formations. At certain points during the tour visitors are allowed to alight from the tram to get up and close to the formations. One main area of the caves is a huge cavern, "The Great Hall", measuring over 50 feet in height.
