Inside, The Rookery is all period charm. Polished wood panelling, stone flagged floors, open fires and genuine antique furniture give the place a warm, homely atmosphere – more private club than hotel.
All rooms offer ultra-comfortable beds and truly extraordinary bathrooms featuring Vintage roll-top baths, walk-in showers and throne loos, you won’t find anything like it elsewhere. Some of the best suites are Dr Theophilus Garencières, a luxurious ground floor junior suite. The bedroom has a large four poster carved oak bed and a separate sitting area. While Sir Walter De Manny, also on the ground floor, has a carved four poster bed and a beautiful panelled sitting room complete with small sofa and desk in a recess off the bedroom.
